Christian Yelich has a long standing history of low back pain. In 2021 he missed a substantial amount of time with the Milwaukee Brewers due to it, but back pain is something that has bothered him on and off for several years now. Unfortunately he is currently dealing with some discomfort in that area that has kept him sidelined for the past few games.
According to Christian Yelich himself, he felt his grab back pull during his wild trip around the bases in Sundays finale against the Kansas City Royals. The play he is referencing to is when he stole second base, advanced to third base on an error and then scored on an additional error.
This great baserunning moment came at a cost: It’s when Christian Yelich felt his back grab. He said it’s improved today and not as bad as some of the flare-ups in the past. “I’ve had way, way worse.” pic.twitter.com/SBLoihpHt4

An issue with Christian Yelich’s back was first made known public during the teams 18-1 loss against the St. Louis Cardinals. With the game well out of reach Craig Counsell pulled him from the game due to back soreness. He did not play in the final two games of that series.
When asked about the current status of his back Christian Yelich said, “I’ve had way, way worse. I’m feeling better. I don’t feel terrible. Not as bad as I’ve felt before.”
Hopefully Christian Yelich can return to the Brewers lineup soon. He has been one of the teams hottest hitters during the month of May.
