Bears' Darnell Wright, TJ Edwards Named Winners of Brian Piccolo Award
Mike Dinovo-USA TODAY Sports

The Chicago Bears select two players to give the Brian Piccolo Award every year. Players vote on one rookie and one veteran to receive this highly-touted award given to individuals who exemplify the traits of Brian Piccolo. Darnell Wright and TJ Edwards earned this nomination, showcasing courage, loyalty, and teamwork.

Bears 2023 Brian Piccolo Award Winners

The Bears named offensive lineman Darnell Wright and linebacker TJ Edwards the winners of the 2023 Brian Piccolo Award. Wright, as a rookie, played and started all 17 games for Chicago in 2023.

The Bears selected Wright 10th overall in the 2023 NFL Draft out of Tennessee and the 6-foot-6, 330-pound offensive lineman lived up to the high draft selection. Wright played every offensive snap for the Bears last season and was a staple along the offensive line.

The Bears' veteran Brian Piccolo Award winner is TJ Edwards. After coming to Chicago from Philadelphia just one year ago, the Lake Villa, Illinois native became an instant fan favorite.

He started all 17 games for the Bears at the linebacker position and had three interceptions. Edwards had one forced fumble, two fumble recoveries, two and a half sacks, and over 150 tackles — all career-highs in his fifth season.

Edwards played over 97% of the Bears' defensive snaps last season and became a leader on the defense and in the locker room.
